Eye For An Eye
Washed up Rapper/actor Ice Cube is headed to TV in ‘Eye for an Eye’. This new show will revolve around ... wait for it... Wait for it... A Paramedic turned murderous vigilante. After witnessing violent crime scenes and the broken lives of victims he becomes a vigilante that seeks to punish the perpetrators and avenge the victims. Now here is the twist... He begins to enjoy his violent actions and becomes addicted to metering out the harsh justice... EMS style. Ah, yes another show that paints EMS in a good light. Think 'Dexter' but in an ambulance. I miss Johnny and Roy.

You need to wonder if it is a sign of things to come. North Shore LIJ "We own everything" Hospital, send out the following letter. In Case Of Emergency There's A New Number To Remember Basically they want you to call them directly for EMS calls bypassing 911 and The Suffolk County Police Department (Trained First Responders), The Nassau County Police Department (Trained First Responders), The Suffolk County Sheriff's Department (Trained First Responders), The New York State Police (Trained First Responders), The Nassau County Police Emergency Ambulance Bureau, all Volunteer and Paid Fire Departments and all other Volunteer and Paid EMS services, so NSUH can get to your wallet and insurance first ...ahem I mean so they can respond to "Help you" because "They care". After this letter was leaked and every Police, Fire and EMS Agency on Long Island flipped out they issued this new letter. Can't We All Be friends? It just goes to show you that North Shore Hospital (Who has their ambulances operating in the NYC 911 system) has money, not your best interest in mind. I am sure they would love it if the public would call them first. ...well the public that is well insured anyway. If you want a great example of what happens when 911 is notified in an emergency you can just read this. Suffolk Cop Saves Three Lives In As Many Weeks

Free speech? Not at FDNY. Welcome to 1984.

Once again it is time for another chilling memo from FDNY. This one tries to quash free speech. In a recent Department Order FDNY states: 2.2 USE OF BULLETIN BOARDS IN QUARTERS All members must comply with the regulations Section 19.2 titled “Use of Quarters”. Particular focus must be placed on strictly complying with Section 19.2.2, 5th Paragraph, which states, "Bulletin boards in facilities shall be used only for official Department business or important information relating to approved Departmental organzations." In addition to applicable EEO restrictions, material presenting opinions or viewpoints is not permitted anywhere in quarters. It does not matter whether such opinions or views concern Department matters or non-Department matters. NO articles/material may be posted from any publications, internet or other sources. As stated in Section 19.2.2, 8th Paragraph, "Chief and company officers will be held strictly responsible for ensuring full compliance with this section." This section shall be read at all roll calls for four calendar days following the date of receipt of this order. The names of members who have been informed of this policy shall be recorded in the company journal. Once again FDNY is trying to crush free speech and the exchange of information. Once the press got a hold of this memo FDNY tried to backpedal and then FDNY issued the following follow-up memo stating:
The bottom line is FDNY only issued this because of the negative attention it received from the media. They have no desire to allow freedom of speech or opinions at the New York City Fire Department. PS FDNY needs to learn to spell the word organizations. It is not spelled "organzations" as written by FDNY in Department Order Section 2.2.
Time For A Ticker-tape Parade!

...or not. The City of New York has nixed any idea of a parade honoring 9/11 first responders. Since Mayor Bloomberg has been in office there have been only 2 other ticker-tape parades. One was for the New York Giants championship in Super Bowl XLII, and the other was for the New York Yankees championship in the World Series. There have been other ticker tape parades in NYC but quite a few are for sport teams. Here is a fast look at a few and how many times they have been down the Canyon of Heroes: New York Yankees (9), New York Mets (3), New York Rangers (1), New York Giants (1) As for myself, I don't care about a parade, I didn't respond to 9/11 so I could have people cheer as I walked down the Canyon of Heroes. However it would be a nice way to honor all of the people who responded on 9/11. It would be nice to have a day where those who gave so much can be honored. It would be a day to remember. Sadly it is not to be. I am not surprised though. After all Mayor Bloomberg is the person who told First Responders to stay home on the 10th Anniversary of 9/11. He said there was no room for us. Maybe there would have been a parade for the rescuers if we played sports.
